1989–90 Copa del Rey

The Copa del Rey 1989/90 was the 86th edition of the Spanish Football Cup Copa del Rey.

The competition started on September 6, 1989 and ended with the final on April 5, 1990 at the Estadio Luís Casanova ( Valencia). Defender of the cup competition was Real Madrid. The title was won by FC Barcelona a 2-0 victory in the finals against Real Madrid. Thus, the Catalans qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1990/91.

First Main Round

1 The first leg ended 2-1 for Real Burgos originally, but had to be repeated because Burgos aground with an ineligible player. 2 The game ended 4-1 for Sevilla originally, but had to be repeated because Sevilla had an ineligible player in the squad. 3 Bilbao Athletic (Athletic Bilbao B) not stepped up to competition.

Final

The final took place on April 5, 1990 at Estadio Luis Casanova held in Valencia. The game had to be interrupted several times, as always objects were thrown onto the field. After the match Andoni Zubizarreta Winner FC Barcelona from a glass bottle was during the " lap of honor " hit and injured on the head.
