1967 Argentine Primera División

The Primera División in 1967 was the 37th season of the Argentine Football League Primera División. There had been a change in the game mode before the season starts, after a year now two separate championships were held. In the first half of the Torneo Metropolitano took place, the second half was played in the Torneo Nacional. Both the Metropolitano and the Nacional obtained a most, so there was 1967 per year two Argentine soccer champions. This mode is maintained until the year 1985, before the play in Europe one adapted itself and no longer played in the calendar year, but from summer to summer.

Torneo Metropolitano

The Torneo Metropolitano was the first semi-annual championship. It began on March 3 and ended on August 6, 1967. Initially, two groups were formed, the two best-placed teams met in two semi-final matches. From these semi-finals, the two finalists were determined. These were in 1967, Estudiantes de La Plata and the Racing Club. Estudiantes was able to prevail in the final in Buenos Aires and in the end was for the first time in the club's Argentine master.

Torneo Nacional

The Torneo Nacional was played with sixteen participants who played once each against each other in league system. It started on 8 September and ended on 17 December 1967. Qualified for the National tournament, the top six teams in the groups of the Torneo Metropolitano and the four best representatives of the previously second division were.

At the end of the Torneo Nacional to CA Independiente demonstrated that it was the first time since 1963 again Argentine football champion.
