1971–72 UEFA Cup
The UEFA Cup 1971/72 was the first edition of this competition, which was attended by 64 club teams and was won by Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English final against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The UEFA Cup was the successor of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
The competition was held in six rounds, in home and away matches. In Torgleichstand initially decided the number of away goals scored, then there was an extension and possibly a penalty shootout.
