1980–81 Nationale A season

The 1980/81 season was the 59th season of the National A, the highest French Hockey League. Champion for the first time in club history in general CSG Grenoble.

Mode

The ten teams completed in the main round each of 18 games. The top six teams qualified for the final round, in which the Master was played. The points from the main round were incorporated into the final round. The four last placed athlete had to play in the relegation against the best second division. The teams ranked 7 and 8 received four and two bonus points for the play-offs. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
