1981 World Table Tennis Championships

The 36th World Table Tennis Championship took place from 14 to 26 April 1981 in Novi Sad ( Yugoslavia) instead. Venue was the Vojvodina Sports Center.

The Chinese male and female players retaliated impressive for 1979. 7 All titles went to China. The Hungarian men's team could not repeat their success and lost the final clear. Game system of team competitions

In Group 1 -A the category the German men managed just one win against Indonesia (5-0 ). Men's Singles

Nolten / Kruger prevailed in the qualifying round against Kit Meng Chan / Cho Fan Lo ( Macau), Kim Chang Am / Kim Bok Yong (North Korea ) and Michael Daugård / Annie Larsen ( Denmark ), but not in the main round against Ulf Thorsell / Marie Lindblad (Sweden). Lieck / Stork came against Han Gootzen / Birgitte Kooter (Netherlands) and Valeri Shevtchenko / Narine Antonyan (USSR) in the main round, where Ro Yoon Kwan / Hwang Sook Nam (South Korea) were too strong. Rebel / Olschewski switched Rosario Troilo / Rosaria Mauriello (Italy ), Yves Maas / Malou Toussaint ( Luxembourg ) and Zsolt Kriston / Edit Urbán from (Hungary ), before they were eliminated in the main round against Pak Jong nam / Kim Gyong Sun (North Korea).

German referee

The DTTB Referee Committee nominated the referee Willi Dietrich ( Wetzlar ), Walter EGELHOF ( Weiterstadt ) and Hans Hausner (casting ).

ITTF Congress

During the meetings of the ITTF on 18 and 24 April 79 member associations were represented. It among others, the following resolutions were passed:
