1984–85 IHL season
The 1984/85 season was the 40th regular season of the International Hockey League. During the regular season, nine teams denied each of 82 games. In the play-offs, the Peoria Rivermen prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their history.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Indianapolis Checkers of the defunct Central Hockey League have been included as an expansion team in the league.
- The Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the Central Hockey League dissolved were added as an expansion team in the league.
- The Muskegon Mohawks were sold and changed their name to Muskegon Lumberjacks.
- The Peoria Prancer were sold and changed their name to Peoria Rivermen.
