Lee Norwood

Lee Charles Norwood ( born February 2, 1960 in Oakland, California ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and coach, who in his active period from 1977 to 1997, including for the Nordiques de Québec, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, New jersey Devils, Hartford Whalers and Calgary Flames played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Lee Norwood was born in Oakland, California and grew up in Trenton, Michigan, on. His career as a hockey player, he started in the season 1977/78 at the Olympiques de Hull from the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL. He then spent two years playing for the Oshawa Generals in the highest junior league of the Ontario Hockey Association. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1979 in the third round than a total of 62 players from the Nordiques de Québec. For the Nordiques his debut in the National Hockey League defender was in the 1980/81 season, but at first could not prevail there, so he spent most of the season with their farm team in Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The season 1981/82 he started as a regular player in the new AHL farm team Fredericton Express, while he only came to two additional inserts for the Nordiques in the NHL. Eventually, he was transferred in February 1982 within the NHL to the Washington Capitals, where he was until the end of the season regulars. In the 1982/83 season but was mostly transferred to the AHL Hershey Bears Farmeteam, for which he had already accrued during his time with the Nordiques.

The 1983/84 season spent Norwood at the St. Catharines Saints in the AHL. He then moved to 1984/85 season with the Peoria Rivermen of the International Hockey League. In Peoria, he was able to convince and was awarded the election to the First All -Star Team of IHL as well as the Governor's Trophy as the best defender in the league. The 1985/86 season he spent finally back in the NHL after him, the St. Louis Blues had taken as a free agent contract. From 1986 to 1990, the Americans stood for the Detroit Red Wings on the ice for their AHL farm team Adirondack Red Wings, he also completed three games. At the beginning of the season 1990/91 he was taken by the New Jersey Devils under contract. The following season he joined the Hartford Whalers, but for which he only played six games before he returned for the following two years to his ex-team St. Louis Blues. In the 1993/94 season the links Sagittarius defended for the NHL's Calgary Flames and the San Diego Gulls of the IHL. After a year break, he packed in the season 1995/ 96 for the IHL Chicago Wolves competitors and Detroit Vipers skates. Most recently, he competed in the 1996/97 season for the Saginaw Lumber Kings in the Colonial Hockey League and the San Antonio Dragons in the IHL.

For the season 1997/98 Norwood took office as Cheftrainerbei the Central Texas Stampede of the Western Professional Hockey League. With his team, he failed in the first playoff round at the Shreveport Mudbugs.
