1990–91 2. Bundesliga

In the season 1990/91 the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Schalke 04, MSV Duisburg and Stuttgart Kickers achieved promotion to the Bundesliga.

Rise

With Schalke and Duisburg returned two strong teams back to the Bundesliga. The Stuttgarter Kickers reached over to 2009 the last time discharged relegation for the second time in its history the rise.

Descent

Rot-Weiss Essen has revoked the license. The final decision was not made until after the season on June 22. Hertha BSC, however, was granted a license in the last instance. By eating descent Darmstadt remains in the second division. Darmstadt then drew back his protest against the last season game in Schalke ( 1-0 to Schalke). Thousands of fans stormed the court at the Schalke ascension ceremony and prevented a regular game end. In addition to food had Preußen Münster and the two newcomers Havelse and Schweinfurt relegated to the Oberliga.

Top scorers

Top Scorer of the season was Michael Tönnies from MSV Duisburg with 29 goals.

Expulsion

In the relegation matches of FC St. Pauli came together ( Sixteenth the Bundesliga ) and the Stuttgart Kickers ( third in the Bundesliga 2 ).
