1998–99 United Hockey League season
The 1998/99 season was the eighth regular season of the United Hockey League (until 1997 Colonial Hockey League). The eleven teams completed in the regular season per 74 encounters. The point of best team in the regular season were the Muskegon Fury, for the first time the Colonial Cup won in the play- offs.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Brantford Smoke were to Asheville, North Carolina, moved and changed their name to Asheville Smoke.
- The Dayton Ice Bandits returned after one year of inactivity in the league back, were to Utica, New York, moved and changed their name to Mohawk Valley Prowlers.
- The Saginaw Lumber Kings changed their name to Saginaw Gears.
