The 69th Ice Hockey World Championships in 2005, the IIHF men were held on the following dates and at the following locations.

The games at the 69th World Championship for Men were held until May 15, 2005 in Austria on 30 April. The venues were the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna and the Olympiahalle Innsbruck. The competition format remained unchanged compared to the previous year. According to the Canadian domination of the past two years the title this year went back to the Czech Republic, which was able to win his eleventh world title.

In Group A played: Slovakia, Russia, Austria and Belarus. Host the group matches was Vienna.
