2006 WTA Tour

On the WTA Tour in 2006 in women's tennis tournaments were held in 61 of 36 countries by the Women's Tennis Association.

Most successful player of the year was Justine Henin- Hardenne. You could win 6 tournaments (Sydney, Dubai, French Open, Eastbourne, New Haven, Madrid) for himself and reached to that at all Grand Slam tournaments in the final. Consequently, they led at the end of the year to not only the world rankings, but also the prize money list. After Henin the Russians Nadia Petrova (Doha, Amelia Iceland, Charleston, Berlin, Stuttgart) and Maria Sharapova ( Indian Wells, San Diego, U.S. Open, Zurich, Linz) were recorded five tournament victories for itself.

In double dominated the American- Australian combination Raymond / Stosur. A total of 10 tournaments (Tokyo, Memphis, Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston, French Open, Stuttgart, Linz, Hasselt, Madrid ) ended the duo successfully.

In Portoroz won with Tamira Paszek not only for the only time this year, a qualifier, but also at the same time with 15, is the youngest tournament winner in 2006. Anna -Lena Grönefeld in Acapulco, Vania King in Bangkok and Shahar Peer in Prague succeeded at each tournament the individual and to win the doubles competition.

The team competitions Hopman Cup and Fed Cup are not part of the WTA Tour in 2006., Where they are listed but because the top players play these tournaments usually.
