Defender of the individual was in the men's Roger Federer and Justine Henin in the women who had but resigned in May and did not compete. In the men's doubles were Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle, in women's doubles Nathalie Dechy and Dinara Safina, the defending champion. Wiktoryja Azarenka and Max Mirnyi were the defending champions in the mixed doubles.
