2009 FIS Snowboarding World Championships
The 8th Snowboard FIS World Cup was held from 15 to 25 January 2009 in the South Korean province of Gangwon instead. The choice of venue was made on 3 June 2004 by members of the FIS Executive Board during the 44th FIS Congress in Miami. After the competitor Vail had withdrawn his candidacy shortly before the decision, the South Korean Ski Association was the only candidate.

Program
Main venue was the Hyundai Sungwoo Resort in Hoengseong. There, next to the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony were the competitions held in parallel slalom, parallel giant slalom, snowboard cross and the halfpipe. The Big Air competition was held in Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.
