2010–11 Mestis season

The 2010/11 season was the eleventh season of the Mestis, the second highest Finnish ice hockey league. Vaasan Sport defeated in the playoff finals Jukurit 3-2 and thus became master of the game class.

Mode

Each team has four times playing against any other team in the league, and once against the Finnish U20 national team. A victory in the regular season brings a team three points, one win after extra two points and one defeat after extra time is compensated by one point. For a defeat in the regular season, there are no points.

Play-offs

Mode

The places 1-8 of the main round are qualified for the play- offs that are consistently played in the Best of Five mode. In the round for 3rd place, a game is only played.

The respective opponents were put together so that the highest placed team plays against the worst, the second best, second-worst against, and so on. A game lasts, as in the main round, a total of 60 minutes. After the regular time extensions ( sudden victory overtime ) are played by every 20 minutes in length.

Rise Games

The 14th of the SM - lliga played in a best -of -7 series against the champion of the Mestis to fate and rise in the SM- liiga.

Mestis qualifier

Mode

The two last-place teams in the Mestis play in a best of five series from the participants for the next qualifying round with the three best teams in the Suomi- sarja. In this, the four teams in home and away leg kick to the whereabouts in the Mestis or to move up against each other.
