2011–12 AL-Bank Ligaen season
The 2011/12 season was the fifth season of the Elite series under the name AL-Bank Ligaen, and thus the 27th staging of the highest Danish Hockey League. The main session started on 15 September 2011, the playoffs were played from February 23 to April 21, 2012. The league consisted of nine teams. In the final series of the last year's champion Herning Blue Fox turned by a 1:3 residue nor the series against the Odense Bulldogs and celebrated his 16th Danish championship.
Participant
Having played in the previous year with only eight teams, there was no losers. The Herlev Eagles came up after two years Zweitklassigekeit on from the first division. The second new name in the league was Copenhagen Hockey. After various financial problems in recent years, another new beginning has started in Hvidovre under the new name as of summer 2011.
Mode
In the main round of the nine teams each completed 40 games. For one victory after regulation time, each team received three points for a win after overtime two points for a loss after overtime there was a point and a defeat after regular time zero points. The top eight teams qualified for the playoffs. In the first two playoff rounds, the teams were allowed to pick their playoff opponent in the order of their final placements, the first place winner was allowed to choose his opponent first.

The games for 3rd place were played in two games with back and leg and took place on 30 and 31 March 2012.

The finals were held in the " Best of Seven" mode and took place from April 7 to 21, 2012.
