2012–13 Austrian Cup

The Cup of the Austrian Football Association was played in the 2012/13 season for the 78th time. The official name of the competition is for the third time in a row, " OFB Samsung Cup".

With FC Pasching the first time an association of the third power level guaranteed in the history of the OFB Cup Cup victory. The Paschinger defeated while the current champion ( FK Austria Wien ), the runner-up ( FC Red Bull Salzburg) and the Third World (SK Rapid Wien ), without having had home advantage. The FC Traun is entitled as a winner to take part in the fourth and final qualifying round, the play-off for UEFA Europa League 2013/14.

For the 2012/13 season, a reform of the Cup was decided. With this reform, it was decided to abolish the preliminary round, but it can be held internally in the regional associations a preliminary round. The Relegation losers get in the first round no longer automatically right home. Live games before the quarter- finals were agreed with sporteo. A working group called " infrastructure " had formulate the conditions that are necessary for the implementation of a national association on courses game. The teams from the regional associations, competing in a national representative team, were no longer reimbursed a flat rate, but after actually driven kilometers. The clubs were allowed to charge high entrance fee under certain conditions. Amateur teams were not allowed to participate in the Cup. The final was awarded for the next five years at a fixed location. The first round started earlier than initially planned, on July 12, with the game of division side FAC Team für Wien against the SCR Altach from the second division.

The games of the OFB Cup was not just a matter of prestige, but also a battle for prize money. The participants of the second round were given 4,000 euros appearance money. In the second round received this 8,000 euros, in the quarterfinals 25,000 euros and 40,000 euros in the semifinals. The two finalists were rewarded with 120,000 euros. First round

Endgame

The final of the OFB Cup 2012/13 took place at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium between league club FC Traun and Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien on 30 May 2013. The FC Pasching won the playoff 1-0 and crowned itself as the first third division of the Austrian Cup winner.

Even the advent of Paschinger the Cup final was one of the biggest upsets in the history of Austrian football cups, this was previously not yet managed team 's third- highest division.
