2015 Africa Cup of Nations

The African Cup of Nations 2015 ( French Coupe d' Afrique des Nations, English Africa Cup of Nations ), hosted by the African Association Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF ), is the 30th edition of the African continental championship in football. For the second time Morocco will host the championship. The draw for the finals to be held in Morocco on 26 November 2014.

Award

The organizers of the Africa Championships in 2015 and 2017 were determined in January 2011 at a meeting of the continental federation CAF in Congo Lubumbashi. After the withdrawal of the Democratic Republic of Congo South Africa and Morocco were the only candidates for alignment. Morocco was preferred in 2015, South Africa was initially intended as host of the African Cup of Nations in 2017, but replaced in August 2011 with Libya, original organizer of the tournament in 2013, the host law.

Qualification

Morocco is automatically qualified as the host. More 51 teams have registered for the qualification. Only Djibouti, Zanzibar and Somalia do not take part. For the first time South Sudan takes part in qualifying. The format of the qualification was approved on 24 January 2014. In seven groups are 28 of the 51 teams entered between September 5th and 15th November 2014, the 15 teams determine who participate in the final tournament to the host, which will qualify the top two in each group and the best third group. The 21 best teams in the CAF rankings automatically qualify for the group stage. The remaining seven teams will be determined in pre-qualification from May to August 2014. The draw for place on April 27, 2014 in Cairo.
