A King's Story

A King's Story is a British documentary film from 1967, based on the eponymous autobiography and a memoir of Sydney Box.

Action

The film is a biography of the former British King Edward VIII. Based on film footage, newsreel clips and photographs is shown the life of the monarch, who abdicated as king in December 1936 after only 10 months.

The Prince of Wales, the great-grandson of Queen Victoria, is shown at the school and later as a soldier in the Royal Navy. Later, he is familiar with the duties of his royal position. This is followed by shots of his travels as an ambassador of England and his throne as King Edward VIII recordings of meetings with his American lover Wallis Simpson are shown. The romance was made public. Edward was forced to abdicate in order to marry Wallis can. The highlight reads King Edward his abdication speech.

The former king also joined himself to in the film. The Duke of Windsor presented the film crew own film footage and photographs available and was filmed at his country house in Gif- sur -Yvette near Paris.

The emerging prominent persons in the film were dubbed. So David Warner gave the young prince his voice, Patrick Wymark spoke as Winston Churchill and Flora Robson as Queen Mary.
