Style

As the Silence EPs is A Quick Fix of Melancholy rooted in minimalist ambient, but also has influences from neoclassicism and film music. The compositions are varied. There are again various electronic effects and samples used synthesizer sounds are usually in the foreground. Rygg puts his variable singing again more than the previous releases. The title of the EP is programmatic, as the mood of the pieces is melancholy. On metal.de A Quick Fix of Melancholy is compared with works by Dead Can Dance and coil.

Reception

"The bottom line is 'A Quick Fix Of Melancholy ' is an ambiguous matter. In reality, the three completely new songs are indeed quite passable, but due to their experimental system rather difficult to digest. [ ... ] A so-called quick shot, the missing the big ideas. "

" This EP is with the exception of ' Shadows Of The Sun' the most beautiful thing ULVER have ever captured on a record. "

" Loud- soft, fast-slow, high-low, bright - dull, happy - sad, hopeful - despairing, nice - nice; on this EP is all there. Simply a wonderful slice for lonely hours alone or individually. "
