ADOdb

ADOdb ( Active Data Objects DataBase ) is a database abstraction layer for the scripting languages PHP and Python. The concept is similar about Microsoft's ActiveX Data Objects. It makes it possible to write applications independent of the underlying database for data storage. The advantage is that the switch is connected to another database when using ADOdb with time and cost savings, as the application has not or only marginally changed. However, care must be taken that some databases do not support all functions.

There are versions for PHP and Python, the Python version is less developed.
