Alan D. Taylor

Alan D. Taylor ( born October 27, 1947 in Melrose, Massachusetts) is an American mathematician, known for his contributions to the theory of fair division and with Steven Brams found the divorce formula.

Taylor graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor 's degree in 1969 and in 1975 at Dartmouth College in James Baumgartner PhD ( Some results in partition theory ). After that, he was instructor at the University of Maine and in 1975 assistant professor, associate professor in 1979 and professor in 1983 at Union College in Schenectady, New Jersey. He was there Mary Louise Bailey Professor of Mathematics.

He is concerned with set theory, game theory, mathematical social and political sciences. Since he has he published in 1992 with Paul Erdős Erdős number 1
