Alaska Gold Kings

The Alaska Gold Kings were an American ice hockey team from Fairbanks, Alaska. The team played from 1995 to 1997 in the West Coast Hockey League.

History

The Alaska Gold Kings were founded in 1995 as a franchise of the West Coast Hockey League. In this they were one of seven founding members. With a fourth place finish in the regular season they reached in the 1995/96 season at once the playoffs for the Taylor Cup, where they lost to the eventual champions San Diego Gulls in the best- of-five series with 2:3 victories. The following season ended, the team from Alaska to the sixth and last place thus why the playoffs were missed. Then the leaders withdrew the team from the game operation of the WCHL and settled there in 1998 to Colorado Springs, Colorado to where it participated in the following years under the name Colorado Gold Kings game on operation of the WCHL.

The Alaska Gold Kings were situated on the nörtlichsten franchise in the history of North American professional sports.
