Alcampell

Alcampell ( in Catalan El Campell ) is a municipality in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is located in the La Litera in the predominantly Catalan Franja de Aragón.

To the municipality today uninhabited exclave Pelegriñón heard ( Catalan Pelegrinyó ) with small Romanesque church and the Hermitage of Santa Ana.

History

In the municipality traces of Iberian colonization were found. However, the history begins only with the defensive system ( with a fortress ), which was established in the time of the Moors. In 1090 was the Christian reconquest Count Armengol IV of Urgell. The place was first mentioned in 1098. In the aftermath Alcampell lay the interests of the Counts of Urgell and the Kings of Aragon at the intersection. 1785 was the separation of Tamarite de Litera.
