Àlex Crivillé

Àlex Crivillé ( born March 4, 1970 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain ) is a former Spanish motorcycle racer and two-time world champion.

Crivillé took second place in his first World Cup race 1987 in the 80 cc class. The 1988 season, he finished as joint - Seventh and drove his first full season the following year in the 125cc. He won the title in this class with five wins this season at the first attempt.

For the 1990 season Crivillé joined the class up to 250 cc. After two winless years, he rose to the 500 - cc class. The 1992 season he was the team of Sito Pons WM- eight with a victory in Assen. In 1993 came another eighth World Cup place before Crivillé 1994 as team-mate Mick Doohan at Repsol Honda factory rider to climb. He finished fourth in 1995 and 1997, 1998 and 1996, the third the second world rank.

After Doohan's career end Crivillé seized the opportunity afforded to him, bringing with six wins the world title in 1999. Streaky but after two seasons in 2000 and 2001, he was terminated by Honda. A planned MotoGP season 2002 at the D' Antin team failed because of health problems. Crivillé then stepped back from active racing.
