Alex Galchenyuk

Alexander "Alex" Galchenyuk ( born February 12, 1994, Milwaukee, Wisconsin ) is an American professional ice hockey player. Since January 2013, he plays for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League on the position of the center.

Career

Galchenyuk played in the 2009/10 season for the Chicago Young Americans in the Junior League Midwest Elite Hockey League ( MWEHL ). He scored 44 goals in 38 games and 87 points scorer and was the top scorer MWEHL. Subsequently, the Center for the Priority Selection 2010 the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ) was selected first overall position of the Sarnia Sting. Alex Galchenyuk opted for immediate entry into the Canadian Major Junior League, and came into the OHL season 2010/11 in all 68 games of the Sting used; thereby pass him 83 points. Due to this performance, he was elected to the OHL All- Rookie team this season.

Before the start of the following season to Galchenyuk moved on 16 September 2011 during a preseason game against the Windsor Spitfires to a torn ACL. After completion of the lockout at the start of the NHL season 2012/13 Galchenyuk was appointed to the cadre of the Canadiens and debuted on January 19, 2013 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League. His first goal, he managed a game of it against the Florida Panthers.

Internationally

Alex Galchenyuk represented his country with the U.S. national team for the first time at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2013. In the tournament of the striker scored in seven games eight points scorer and won with his team after a final win against the Swedish selection the gold medal. In the same game year he was also nominated for the men's World Cup in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki and won with the national team the bronze medal.

Alex Galchenyuk was born in 1994 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His father Alyaksandr Haltschenjuk was active at this time for the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League as a player.
