Alexander Graf

Alexander Graf (born 25 August 1962 when Alexander Nenaschew in Tashkent ) is a German grandmaster in chess of Uzbek origin.

Before the departure

In the national championship of the Soviet Union in Moscow in 1991 he finished fifth. For Uzbekistan, he played at the Chess Olympiad in 1992 in Manila, where he scored 9.5 points out of 12 games picked up a gold medal on board 3 and was instrumental in the silver medal of the team. Overall, he took part in five Chess Olympiads. The title of chess grandmaster he received in 1992. He also played in the team's 1993 World Championships in Lucerne.

Traveling to Germany

In 2000 he moved to Germany. The German Retail Championships in 2000 and 2001, he came runner-up. 2004 at the 75th German Chess Individual Championship in Höckendorf he could win the title, 2005, he was ranked third for the German national team, he played at the World Team Championship 2001 in Yerevan, where he won a gold medal at board 3. At the 2003 European Championships in Istanbul, he took third place. In the 2004 world chess championship of FIDE in Tripoli he was eliminated in the second round.

He played in the Chess Bundesliga for the SG Porz, such as on 10 December 2000 in Gelsenkirchen, as he won against Murray Chandler.

His Elo rating is 2601 (as of January 2013), that he is currently in ninth place of the German Elo ranking. Last among the top 40 in the world rankings, he was in 2001. His previous highest Elo rating was 2661 in July 2004.

Private

Graf's ancestors came from Germany. He married Rena Graf Grand Master and has a son (* 1989).
