Eric Lobron

Eric Lobron ( born May 7, 1960 in German Town, Pennsylvania ) is a German chess grandmaster American descent.

Life

Eric Lobron came the age of five after Germany and grew up in Wiesbaden, where he came in PSV Green-White Wiesbaden with chess in touch and his first tournaments played. In 1978 he became German youth champion in Dillingen on the Danube. In 1980 he won the German Championship for Men for the first time. Shortly thereafter, he broke off his law studies and became a chess professional.

In 1981 he won in Biel, 1982 in Ramat haScharon and Manila. 1982 Grandmaster title of the World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him. This was followed by victories in New York in 1983, Biel 1986, Brussels 1987, Ter Apel 1987. Between, he was back in 1984 German Masters.

Eric Lobron adopted in 1980 for the first time at a Chess Olympiad in part. With the Chess Olympiad 1980 in Malta, he played until 1996 in Yerevan for a total of eight Chess Olympiads for Germany. At the Chess Olympiad in 1990 in Novi Sad, he received a bronze medal for its result on board 3

In July 1992 Lobron reached its highest Elo rating of 2625 and was ranked 20 in the FIDE world ranking list. In 1998, he finished in Bad Wiessee after a victory over the later FIDE World Champion Khalifman second place. For about 10 years he has become increasingly withdrawn from the tournament chess. His last -evaluated tournament game played Lobron 2006 in the Hessian Association League ( since then his Elo rating unchanged), his last single tournament he played in the 2004 Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

Eric Lobron is also considered a good backgammon player. Since 2004 he has been romantically involved with the Estonian Schachfunktionärin Carmen Kass.
