Allen Iverson

Allen Iverson Ezail ( born June 7, 1975 in Hampton, Virginia ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Despite the comparatively small size of 1.83 m, the fast and agile Guard is one of the best scorers of the 2000s.

Career

Iverson was selected in the 1996 NBA Draft in the first place by the Philadelphia 76ers. Before that he played in high school for the Bethel Bruins and college for the Georgetown Hoyas. In the season 2004/2005 he moved from the position of the Shooting Guards on the point guard position, where he had previously played only in his rookie season. In 1997 he was awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year and All- Rookie First Team was called to the NBA. This season he has made it as the only rookie in NBA history to achieve five in a row playing 40 or more points.

He was elected MVP of the season 2001, 2001 and 2005 MVP of the All- Star Games. Overall, Iverson was named 11 times to the All- Star team. In addition, he was already four times the best scorer in the NBA. In 2001, the Sixers failed to the Los Angeles Lakers in the finals in five games. In 2004, he took with the U.S. national team Olympic bronze medal.

In the 2005/06 season Iverson played by some rather disappointing years back strong on and scored with 33 points per game the best points average of his career. He also gave nearly 8 assists on average. With Andre Iguodala and Chris Webber he now had two strong players, still missed the Philadelphia 76ers to the playoffs.

Beginning of December 2006 announced Iverson who want to leave Philadelphia 76ers. On 20 December 2006, Iverson was submitted along with Ivan McFarlin in exchange for Andre Miller and Joe Smith and two future first-round draft picks to the Denver Nuggets.

On November 3, 2008 it was announced that Iverson was traded in exchange for Chauncey Billups Cheikh Samb and Antonio McDyess to the Detroit Pistons. The Nuggets waived but later on Antonio McDyess. Towards the end of the regular season had Iverson because of a persistent back problem on other games waive and announced on April 4, 2009 that he would not return for the rest of the season. Iverson played in 2009 for the Memphis Grizzlies, but the contract was terminated after a few games under mutual agreement.

On 2 December 2009, Iverson signed then a new contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and thus returned to the club with which he succeeded in entering the NBA and with whom he celebrated his greatest successes. Due to a serious illness of his daughter, he ended on March 2, 2010, the season prematurely and could not help the 76ers still get into the playoffs after they started very badly in the 2009/10 season. In his NBA career, Iverson scored a total of 24 368 points and counts in this category, the 20 most successful NBA players.

As of October 2010, Iverson played for Beşiktaş Cola Turka Istanbul.

On October 30, 2013, after he was without a club two years, Iverson announced his career end.

On March 1, 2014 at the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards, his jersey was hung with the number 3 during the half-time break under the roof of the hall Wells Fargo Center. His number is thus never forgive at the Sixers again.

Others

Legendary was a press conference from the year 2002. 76ers were just eliminated from the playoffs, and Iverson was criticized for his training laziness. Iverson initially responded with " We're sitting here, I'm Supposed to be the franchise player, and we're in here talking about practice" and talked himself into a rage then. The phrase " talking about practice" ( German: " talk about ( the ) training " ) he used during his Wutrede almost 20 times.
