André Vacherot

André Vacherot ( born August 27, 1860 in Paris, † March 22, 1950 ) was a French tennis player.

Life and career

Vacherot reached seven times the final at the French Tennis Championships. 1894 and 1896 he won against Gérard Brosselin, 1895 against Laurent Riboulet and 1901 against Paul Lebreton. In the years 1903 and 1904 he lost to Max Décugis and 1905 against Maurice Germot. All of his final opponents were French.

His brother Michel was able to win the tournament in 1902 in two sets 6-4, 6-2 against Max Decugis.

Only Max Decugis with eight, seven with Rafael Nadal, Bjorn Borg with six and Henri Cochet with five titles were more successful than André Vacherot at Roland Garros.

He was one of the best French tennis players of his time.
