Andriy Shevchenko (Ukrainian Андрій Миколайович Шевченко, scientific transliteration Andrij Mykolajovyč Ševčenko; Russian Андрей Николаевич Шевченко; born September 29, 1976 in Dwirkiwschtschyna at Jahotyn ) is a former Ukrainian football player who finished his career after the European Championships 2012 at the policy to go. Active he was with Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan and Chelsea.

Dynamo Kiev

Shevchenko comes from the football school of the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev, in which he played until 1999. In Kiev he was trained by legendary coach Lobanovskyi. Shevchenko completed a study at the Sport University in Kiev.

AC Milan

In 1999, Shevchenko to AC Milan. In the season 2004/ 05 AC Milan refused an offer of 90 million euros from Chelsea for Shevchenko.

In the season 2005/ 06 on matchday 24 of the Serie A, he scored his 165th goal for AC Milan and moved so that in the eternal scorer of the club legend Gianni Rivera past second place in the internal club leaderboard. Shevchenko had risen in his seven years in Milan as Deputy Captain Paolo Maldini and was declared favorite player from Milan owner and President Silvio Berlusconi.

On 23 November 2005 Shevchenko scored in the Champions League match against Fenerbahce four goals. So far this only five other players managed in the history of the Champions League. In the all-time scorers list for the UEFA Champions League, he is with 56 goals from 108 games in third place. Previously, Shevchenko was twice top scorer in Serie A.

Chelsea FC

After the 2006 World Cup Shevchenko moved for 46 million euros to Chelsea. He could not take root and underperformed its shape for a long time. In his first Premier League season Shevchenko was in 30 games, only four goals. In the UEFA Champions League, he came up with three goals in ten games a little better deal.

In the 2008 /09 season Shevchenko was awarded by Chelsea for a year at AC Milan.

Return to Dynamo Kiev

After failing to gain a foothold in Chelsea, the last eleven months of his contract were resolved. In August 2009, Shevchenko moved back to Dynamo Kiev. He signed a two-year contract.

National

His debut in the Ukrainian national team gave Shevchenko on 25 March 1995 to Croatia. In 2006, he reached the quarterfinals, the biggest success so far in the relatively short history of the Ukrainian national team at the World Cup. Previously, Shevchenko was viewed by many as one of the best players ( along with George Best ) at all, who had never participated in a World Cup finals. On 11 October 2008, he was with his 85th international game 's most capped player of Ukraine. On 8 October 2010, he played his 100th international match against Canada. Meanwhile, he was replaced by Anatoly Tymoschuk as most capped player. Shevchenko was in the Ukrainian squad for the 2012 European Championship and came in all three group matches are used.

Honors

In Ukraine, he received several medals and in 2003 the title of " Honored Master of Sports." The striker took in 2004 the title of European Footballer of the Year. Already in the 1998/1999 season he was chosen by UEFA to the best strikers in the Champions League.

Private

Andriy Shevchenko married in July 2004, the American fashion model Kristen Pazik and the couple have two sons. His father Nikolai was stationed for many years as a soldier in the Soviet army in Wunsdorf where Shevchenko spent some years of his youth. His sister Elena was born in Wunsdorf.

In his spare time enjoys playing golf Shevchenko. At the national championships on October 1, 2011, he took second place.
