Androscoggin County, Maine

Androscoggin County is a county located in the state of Maine in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Auburn.

Geography

According to the Census Bureau of the United States, the county has a total area of 1,288 square kilometers. Among these 70 square kilometers, according to 5.42 percent of the total area of water. The county is bordered clockwise to the counties: Franklin County, Kennebec County, Sagadahoc County, Cumberland County and Oxford County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 103 793 people in the county. There were 42 028 households and 27 192 families. The population density was 85 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.98 % White, 0.66 % African American, 0.27 % Native American, 0.55 % Asian, 0.04 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.28 % from other races groups; 1.22% were descended from two or more races. 0.95 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 42 028 households out of which 30.90 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.60 % were married couples living together, 10.80% had a female householder with no husband. 35.30 % were non-families. 28.30% of all households and 11.00% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.91.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 23.90 % under the age of 18, 9.10 % from 18 to 24, 29.70 % from 25 to 44 years, 22.90 % between 45 and 64 years and 14.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 94.30 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.20 males.
