Ansegisus

Ansegis (* 770, † July 20 833 or 834 in Fontenelle ) was abbot of Fontenelle (St. Vandrille ) and is worshiped by the Roman Catholic Church as a saint.

A native of Frankish nobility Ansegis was in the famous Benedictine monastery of Fontenelle in the diocese of Rouen monk and as abbot came to Reims, then to Chalons- sur -Marne later. Since 807 he was abbot of St. Germain -en- Flay in the diocese of Beauvais, and brought the monastery of ARGEM decay to high bloom. Charlemagne summoned Ansegis to his court in Aachen and entrusted him with various political missions, especially in the Spanish market. Even when Charles's son, Louis the Pious was Ansegis in high esteem. Ludwig gave him 817 the Abbey of Luxeuil in the diocese of Besançon. After these dilapidated abbey came to flower, Ansegisus 822 was sent to the monastery of Fontenelle as abbot again.

His Catholic feast day is July 20.
