Anton-Karg-Haus

The Anton- Karg -Haus, formerly the New Hinterbärenbadhütte, is a mountain hut of Kufstein section of the Austrian Alpine Club in the Kaiser mountains in Tyrol. The namesake of the lodge is the co-founder of 1877 launched Alpine Club section Unterinntal (later section Kufstein ), Anton Karg, 1888 warden of the protective house Hinterbärenbad, 1890-1919 First Chairman of the Section Kufstein.

Location

The Anton- Karg -Haus is located at the rear of Kaisertal at one point of the Kaiser Bach, the Hinterbärenbad (see below) is called. The house is located in a quiet, impressive surroundings with views of the Wilder Kaiser and the tame heart of the natural reserve of the Wilder Kaiser. It can also be reached for day-trippers and therefore particularly well in good weather a popular destination.

The road to the cabin is especially nice as scenic as the bright limestone cliffs of the Kaiser Mountains to the traveler on his way increasingly open, you walk literally into the mountain. Although the Kaiser Mountains is absolutely not very high, it impressed in this way especially because of the difference in altitude of 1200 m between the level of the path and the peaks.

History

The Anton- Karg -Haus has a long tradition. 1882, the City Municipality Kufstein Kufstein section of an Alpine hut, which was opened after reconstruction as Hinterbärenbadhütte on 25 July 1883. After further expansion in 1884, the house along with a second, newly built Holzbaulichkeit was transferred to the ownership of the section Kufstein 1886. According to annex a porch, and the adaptation of the second house to a bedroom the shelter Hinterbärenbad recorded from 1887 Visitor Arrivals, 1894, led the section on expansion and partial new construction. During the winter months from 1894 to 1895, the New Hinterbärenbadhütte was constructed and commissioned in the spring of 1895 in operation. From this time for a mountain hut unusually spacious rooms, some come even with private balconies. The house was used until the early 20th century by respected citizens of Kufstein for their summer vacation. Decades, the company was run by the family Pavicic ( a tenant change was made in 2006 ).

Hinterbärenbad

The Anton- Karg- house is situated on a particularly beautiful site of the Kaiser Bach, the Hinterbärenbad. According to tradition, here the cooled brown bears, which were once so common in the Alps, on hot summer days by a bathroom. It is also possible that the bears were just looking for food, which is close to the Kaiser Bach looked as if they would bathe.

In the 19th century the bears out of fear of fear for their livestock Alpine inhabitants were exterminated. ( However, there are efforts to locate the brown bear in the Alps of Austria again. From the previous occurrence of the bears still bear witness to old drawings and paintings).

Access paths

  • From Kufstein / Sparchen by the Kaiser on the normal route via Pfandlhof and the track ( easy walk ), alternatively on the old Kaiser thalweg of the Anthony Chapel and the upper path along the slope, walking time 2.5 hours each.
  • From the Griesner Alm ( toll road) in Kaiserbachtal by exceeding the Stripsenjochs (normal hike, 600 meters altitude and 750 meters of altitude in the descent ), duration: 3 hours.
  • Take the chairlift to the Brentenjoch ( the lift was in 2012 for an indefinite period of standstill ). After a short hike you will reach the Kaindlhütte, from there via the Bettlersteig predominantly descending to the Anton Karg Haus, medium, walking time from Brentenjoch 3 hours.
