Archduke Joseph, Palatine of Hungary
Archduke Joseph Anton Johann ( Baptist ) of Austria ( born May 9, 1776 in Florence, † 13 January 1847 in Oven, today the Buda side of Budapest ) was a member of the House of Habsburg -Lorraine. In 1795 he was appointed regent of Hungary and a year later, the Palatine of Hungary; his descendants form a line " Archduke Joseph," a Hungarian branch of the House of Habsburg -Lorraine. Archduke Joseph was field marshal of the army of the Austrian Empire and the owner of several regiments.
Life
Joseph Anton Johann was a son of Emperor Leopold II (1747-1792) and his wife the Infanta Maria Ludovica of Spain (1745-1792), a daughter of the Spanish king Charles III. and Princess Maria Amalia of Saxony.
At his instance an arboretum with more than 300 different plant was built in the park at Alcsútdoboz, which can still be seen today. In Hungary, his name is as József nádor, ie obtain Palatine Joseph remembered. His statue stands in the center of Budapest, in front of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance, on the place that today bears his name ( József nádor tér ). The Castle of Alcsút was completely looted after the Second World War and set on fire, only a ruin remains.
A native of the Palatinate Imperial Count and Field Marshal - Lieutenant Joseph Henry of Beckers to Westerstetten (1764-1840) was his long-time confidant and chief chamberlain.

- Hermine Amalie Marie (1817-1842), abbess of the Teresian Women's pin in Prague
- Stefan Franz Viktor (1817-1867), Palatine of Hungary
On August 24, 1819 he married in Kirchheim the princess Maria Dorothea of Württemberg ( 1797-1855 ), a daughter of Prince Ludwig Friedrich Alexander of Württemberg- Teck. The marriage produced five children:
