Arienzo

Arienzo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5361 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The municipality is situated approximately 14 km east-southeast of Caserta. Arienzo is immediately adjacent to the province of Benevento in the Parco Regionale del Partenio.

History

The Oscan or Etruscan town Suessola lies partly in the municipality, which was destroyed around 800 AD by the Saracens. From ancient Roman times parts of the country villas ( villae rustica ) are still preserved.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 7 Appia leads according to the historical course of the Via Appia.
