Frignano

Frignano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8900 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The municipality is situated approximately kilometers southwest of Caserta and about 18 kilometers north- west of Naples.

History

The name indicates an early Roman origin. Perhaps a Roman family name is based on ( or Furnius Furinius ). In consideration but is also the place name forum Iani. Such a temple could be the foundations of the church Maria dell'Arco. The church is mentioned from 1100 as Forignani maioris. Even before had been called Ferrayanu.

Traffic

The community is located at the former State Road 265 dei Ponti della valle, which was downgraded now the provincial road 355. The San Marcellino - Frignano railway station is on the railway line Roma - Formia -Naples.
