Arthur H. Wicks

Arthur H. Wicks ( born December 24, 1887 in New York City, † 1985) was an American businessman and politician.

Career

Arthur H. Wicks had a steam laundry in Kingston ( New York). He was 1927-1956 Member of the Senate of New York, where he represented the 29th district election 1927-1944 and then 1945-1956 the 34th electoral district. During this time he held 1949-1953 the post of Majority Leader ( Majority Leader ) in the Senate from New York. He also participated in 1940 and 1944 as a replacement delegate as well as 1948, 1952 and 1956 as a delegate to the Republican National Conventions.

Wicks was from October 1, 1953 Acting Lieutenant Governor of New York, but was forced on 19 November from both offices to withdraw when it became known that he often condemned the union leader Joseph S. Fay met, the last imprisoned in Sing Sing had.
