Assyriska Föreningen

Assyriska FF Sodertalje ( German: Assyrian football club Södertälje ) is a Swedish football club based in the city of Södertälje, southwest of the capital Stockholm

History

The club was founded in 1971 by Assyrian immigrants. He received in 1974 his football department and launched in 1975 the official game operating in the Swedish league system. Step by step rose to the club and in 1985 reached already the 4th league. In 1992, the first ascent followed in the second Swedish league. The mid- 90s the club was trained with success by the German coach Peter Antoine in the second league.

Prior to the rise in the Allsvenskan at the end of the 2004 it was partly to violent, even xenophobic discussions in Sweden, as the club had managed to climb only because of the license withdrawal from Örebro SK. In the season 2005, the club played for the first time in the highest Swedish league, and celebrated there on 17 April against IFK Gothenburg 's first win.

But then followed the rapid descent: At the end of the season Assyriska rose with only four games won knocked off in the Superettan. In the following season, the club placed in the second division only surprising than Thirteenth table and had in the play-offs. There, they met in October 2006 to Bunkeflo IF and after a 0-0 draw in the first leg at home you had to accept a 1-1 draw. This was according to the away goals rule, the descent into the low ranks firmly. In the 2007 season but the club as a master of third-rate Division 1 Norra succeeded the sovereign return to the Superettan. In subsequent seasons Assyriska narrowly failed the rise: In the 2008 season, the club fell after 29 match days in the top three on the final day to fourth place back in the following season he reached while the third place in the table and thus the relegation matches against Djurgårdens IF in this they lost narrowly and unhappy with a 0-3 defeat after extra time in the second leg after the first leg was won with a 2-0 success. Also in 2010 meant the fourth place in the table - but with five points behind GIF Sundsvall - missing the Erstligarückkehr.

All home games are in the Södertälje Arena opened in 2006 on artificial turf instead. Today there is still a great relationship between Assyrian immigrants and club. With the players now represent Sweden but almost half of the squad.
