Athletics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's 400 metres
The 400 - meter race of women in the 2012 Olympics in London was held from 3rd to 5th August 2012 at the London Olympic Stadium. 49 athletes took part.
There were seven heats. It qualified in each case the first three and the three fastest time athletes for the semifinals. The semi-final was played in three runs, in which the two best starters, and yet the two fastest qualified for the finals.
The directly qualified runners are light blue, the highlighted light green over time skilled.

Jennifer Padilla finished the race in 3rd place ( 51.74 s ) and would have been so directly qualified for the semifinals. However, she was subsequently disqualified for crossing the boundary lines. Thus, the Haitian Wesh was placed at # 3. Wesh would also be qualified by the time by the Nigerian Omotosho moved (flow 3) after.
