Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics

At the 2012 Olympics in London 34 competitions were held in swimming. July 28, August 4, 2012 bis 32 competitions were held in the pelvic swimming in the Aquatics Centre on a 50 - meter track, 16 for each women and men. Qualification criteria

There are about 900 athletes take part in the competitions in the pool swimming. For each individual discipline FINA put qualifying times established, an A- standard or OQT (Olympic Qualification time) or a B standard or OST (Olympic Selection Time).

In the individual competitions, each NOC must bring two athletes at the start, when both were able to achieve the A standard, or an athlete, when it has reached the B standard. In the relay events a team per country may compete, consisting of a maximum of six athletes. In each relay competition of 16 teams participate, each twelve places were offered at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, added the four time fastest seasons came between March 1, 2011 and June 1, 2012. Qualified seasons

Qualified athletes

The following table shows for each individual route, the number of qualified athletes by NOCs. It could qualify via the A standard and a maximum of one athlete over the B standard up to two athletes. Open Water Swimming

Qualification criteria

There are 50 athletes participate in the competitions of 25 women and men. A maximum of two athletes per country are allowed to start, each a quota place was the host in both women and men guaranteed. The following eligibility criteria were considered for both women and men. The ten best swimmers in the world championships in 2011 won a quota place. Nine other swimmers won in an international qualifying race to 10 June 2012 will take place from 9 in Setubal, a quota place.
