Athletics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's triple jump
The Triple Jump Women at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 3 and 5 August 2012 at London's Olympic Stadium. 35 athletes participated in the contest.
Two qualifying groups were formed, each vaulter had three attempts. A length of 14.40 m qualified Springerin directly for the finals, where the number of directly -skilled was irrelevant. If less than 12 athletes reach the length, the following starters both groups qualified, stood firm to 12 finalists. In the finals, each jumper stood first three attempts. The best 8 then got another three attempts.
Because of a perceived as offensive commentary about living in Greece African immigrants on Twitter Paraskevi Papachristou Greek starter was expelled two days before the opening ceremony of the Greek NOC of the games. Papachristou is the first athlete that was excluded from the Olympic Games due to a Twitter commentary.
The directly qualified athletes interior are light blue, highlighted the determined over the next best size jumpers light green.
