Azurduy Province

Juana Azurduy de Padilla (short: Azurduy ) is a province in the northeastern part of the department of Chuquisaca in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

The province takes its name in honor of Juana Azurduy de Padilla (1781-1862) who along with her husband, Manuel Padilla Asencio (1773-1816), who fought in the Bolivian war of independence against Spain.

Location

The province is one of the ten provinces in the department of Chuquisaca. It is bounded on the northwest by the Department of Potosí, to the west and south by the province of Nor Cinti, to the east by the province of Hernando Siles, and in the north- east by the province Tomina.

The province extends approximately between 19 ° 32 'and 20 ° 30' south latitude and 64 ° 17 'and 64 ° 47 ' west longitude, its extent from east to west is 30 km, from north to south 100 km.

Population
