Tomina Province

Tomina is a province in the central part of the Bolivian department of Chuquisaca.

Location

The province is one of the ten provinces in the department of Chuquisaca. It is bounded on the northwest by the province Jaime Zudañez, on the southwest by the province Azurduy, to the south and southeast to the province Hernando Siles, on the east by the province of Luis Calvo, in the north- east by the department of Santa Cruz, and to the north by the province of Belisario Boeto.

The province extends approximately between 18 ° 53 'and 19 ° 50' south latitude and 63 ° 57 'and 64 ° 40 ' west longitude, its extent from east to west is 75 kilometers from north to south 110 km.

Population

The population of the province Tomina has risen in the past two decades, only between 1992 and 2001, since then declined again:

77.4 percent of the population speak Spanish, 54.0 percent Quechua, Aymara and 0.3 percent. (1992)

86.9 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 92.6 percent have no sanitary facilities (1992).

95.0 percent of the population are Catholics, 2.5 percent are Protestant (1992).
