Badou Ezzaki

Badou Ezzaiki (Arabic بادو الزاكي, DMG Badu az- Zaki, born April 2, 1959 in Sidi Kacem ), better known by his nickname Zaki, is a Moroccan football coach and former player. When choosing to Africa's goalkeeper of the century, he was elected behind Joseph -Antoine Bell, Thomas N'Kono and Sadok Sassi at # 4.

Playing career

Zaki played at the beginning of his career for the AS Salé, before he moved to the newly crowned champions Wydad Casablanca in 1978. But for the next championship, it took until 1986, when the goalkeeper already played his eighth season for the club and in the meantime already twice won the national cup. In his last and most successful season he was elected in 1996 next to the league title by France Football to Africa's Footballer of the Year. He then moved to the Spanish Erstligaaufsteiger RCD Mallorca. After completion of the time in Spain last time the played Championship group he reached with his new club in the first season an excellent 6th place in the table. In the following season 1987/88, however, the good result could not be confirmed and Mallorca had to join the second division as third from bottom. There, the Moroccans came in 4th place in the table with his team. In the subsequent rise Playoff the club against Espanyol sat 2-1 after 2 games and sealed next to their descent and their own chances of promotion. In the following two years, Badou Zaki kept his team always in the middle of the table. Only in the 1991/92 season stagnated Majorca services again. With only 30 goals scored in 38 league games was the team of the goalkeeper Table and rose again. Zaki was no longer the number one goal and left the club even more during this season. In FUS de Rabat, he trailed off from 1992 to 1993 his career in his home country.

National

For the Moroccan national football team Zaki played among others at the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico. There he was defeated with his team in the second round to the Germans, who won with a goal by Lothar Matthäus 1-0.

Coaching career

Zaki's first coaching position was FUS de Rabat, where he worked as a player last. By 1996, he trained with Wydad Casablanca and AS Salé also two of his former clubs. From 1996 to 1998, the former goalkeeper at Premier League rivals Chabab Mohammédia in office, before he returned to Casablanca. He subsequently worked for Kawkab Marrakech and Fez Maghreb he took over in 2002 the post of coach of Morocco. However, after he failed with his team in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2006, he resigned from this office. In the season 2006/ 07 Zaki was once again working for Marrakech, before the third time he took over as coach of Wydad Casablanca 2008.
