Bartošova Lehôtka

Bartošova Lehôtka (up to 1927 Slovak " Bartošová Lehôtka " - 1927-1946 " Bartošova Lehotka "; Hungarian Bartos - to 1888 Bartoslehota / Bartoslehotka ) is a small town in central Slovakia Okres Žiar nad Hronom.

Geography

The village is located south of the nearest major city Kremnica.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1487 as Bartoslevka and belonged to the Archbishopric of Gran and later from 1776 to the diocese of Banska Bystrica.

Population

At the last census in 2001 gave to all the 421 inhabitants to be Slovaks. The population is mostly Roman Catholic with 85.99 %.

Attractions

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk from the 15th century was rebuilt in Baroque style in 1732. A statue of John of Nepomuk in the Baroque chapel was built in 1783.
