Baunei

Baunei is a municipality in the province of Ogliastra Sardinia with 3678 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geographical Location

Baunei is located at about 480 m above sea level on a fairly steep south-facing slope. Above the village is a rock wall, through which a steep winding road to the plateau Su Golgo winds. From the sea Baunei is separated by the steep mountain range running along this section of the coast, south of the town but a road branches off on the saddle and leads to a further attraction of the region, the rocky pinnacle called Pedra Longa ( Sardinian for " long rock " ).

To Baunei heard the seaside district of Santa Maria Navarrese.

Economy and Transport

Baunei is connected from the north via the winding coastal road SS125 with Dorgali that extends further towards Lotzorai and Tortoli in the south.
