Early History

Northwest of Beckedorf, on the Lührsberg, a 77 m high above sea level and about 500 m wide survey, a settlement of the Funnel Beaker Culture in 1936 by Dr. Hans Piesker, an archaeologist from Hermannsburg, (about 4200-2800 BC) discovered. From the original 30,000 -square-foot estate, numerous post and settlement pits, but also several house plans are exposed. The houses had a length of almost six meters and were between 0.80 meters and 1.40 meters buried in the ground. They had daubed with clay Flechtwände. In addition, arrowheads, scrapers, a spearhead and fragments were found by hatchets of flint and unearthed fragments of pottery. Through the discovery of spindle whorls could be shown that here also wool or plant fibers were processed.

The other megalithic tombs still partially preserved the environment, the Barrow- in Wohlde the grave mound field of Bonstorf and the megalithic grave at Dohnsen from the Neolithic period testify that there was here before and during the Bronze Age colonization.

From the year 1235 we find the first written mention Becke village, which is located in a document in the archive of the monastery Walsrode. Here it is mentioned that Count Siegfried von Osterburg the monastery gave some properties which previously had the now deceased knight Dietrich von Beckedorpe fief.

On 1 January 1973 Beckedorf was in the course of the Lower Saxon and administrative reform part of the community Hermannsburg.

The town was shaped by the railroad. The railway line Celle- Soltau Osthannoversche the railways runs right through the town and forks here, the route to Munster branches in Beckedorf (see also light railway Celle- Soltau, Celle- Munster). The passenger rail in 1970 and partly in 1976 all set the freight runs severely restricted further. The direction of Munster is primarily used for military traffic to Truppenübungsplatz Munster and the direction Soltau for transport to the training area mountains.

Today we find in Beckedorf several farms. Some still are stairs storage from the 19th century. A Häuslingshaus is obtained partly in the old state. As " Häusl Inge" farm workers were called, who did their service on the farm and it could also rent-free living for a small rent, or in part, in the house.

Through the town flows the small Hasselbach, which opens into the Örtze.
