Bedkhem Church

The Bedchem Church ( also: Bedghehem Church, Beyt Lahm Church or Bethlehem Church ) is an Armenian Apostolic church in the Iranian city of Isfahan, Julfa district. It is one of the most historic churches in the city and the era of Abbas I. belongs assigned. The church is located near the St. Mary's Church. The Bedchem Church was built on the orders of an Armenian merchant named Chadsche Petros. There are paintings and decorations on their walls, depicting the life of Jesus Christ. 72 created by Armenian artists paintings were mounted in two rows.

Remarkably, both the architecture and the gilded decorations of the dome. The church includes Armenian inscriptions, dating from the years 1627 and 1711. They commemorate personalities who distinguished themselves by charitable works for the church.

The church consists of three parts:

  • The entrance with a balcony
  • The chapel, over which the dome.
  • The apse

The church has a rectangular blank. Your walls are 31 m long and 14 m high. The dome reaches 26 m high. Opposite the church is a courtyard with two entrances.
