Berghausen, Rhineland-Palatinate

Bergshausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland -Palatinate, it belongs to the municipality Katzenelenbogen to. The place is located in the countryside of facilities near Katzenelenbogen.

History

Bergshausen is first mentioned in 1260. The counts of Katzenelenbogen to 1479 were lords of the county Katzenelenbogen and thus mountain Stockhausen. The largest landowner in Bergshausen was until the secularization in the Ferrutiusstift Bleidenstadt. Since 1806, the village belonged to the Duchy of Nassau, from 1866 to Prussia. Since 1946 Bergshausen is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. 1972 came in the wake of the Rhineland-Palatinate " functional and territorial reform " to form the municipality Katzenelenbogen who belongs to the local church Bergshausen ever since.

The local council in Bergshausen consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The guided since 1980 coat of arms shows a golden mountain on whose summit a golden house stands. There is a golden sword and a golden lance, which cross over the house. The coat of arms colors red gold and match the colors of the Counts of Katzenelenbogen. Lance and sword point to the holy Ferrutius. The house on the hill is a so-called " canting arms ".
