Kemmenau

Kemmenau is a municipality and a nationally recognized resort in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. The community belongs to the municipality of Bad Ems.

Geography

The boundaries of the municipality Kemmenau located in Nassau Nature Park, north of the Lahn Valley in the natural region of Lower Westerwald and extends to a height of about 330-486 m above sea level. NN (First) over an area of 3.76 km ². Kemmenau is approximately 2.5 km from Bad Ems.

History

Kemmenau is just east of the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes, which is in the municipality still clearly visible.

The town was first mentioned in 1320. It assumes, however, that the place is much older. An independent municipality is Kemmenau only since 1816 / 21st

Parish council

The local council in Kemmenau consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure

Kemmenau was once dominated by agriculture and is now a mainly residential community in Greater Bad Ems - Koblenz.

By Kemenau leads the German Limes Cycle Route. This follows the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes 818 km from Bad Hönningen am Rhein to Regensburg on the Danube.
